Five ways to more youthful and healthy skin

We all want healthy, glowing skin that reflects our energy and radiates from within. What natural ways can we use to achieve and maintain this?

A nutritious and healthy diet

A nutritious diet, supplements, exercise, sleep and protecting our skin from the environment are all important elements.

Let’s start with our diet. Good skin is a sign of the overall health of our body. This starts with a balanced diet. Collagen is the building block of skin and requires amino acids found in protein-rich foods. Such as fish, chicken, beef, eggs, and dairy products. Vitamin C works with collagen, so be sure to add an abundance of berries, citrus fruits, broccoli, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables to your diet.

Good fats

Fatty fish, such as fatty Norwegian salmon, are a healthy source of omega-3s, vitamin E and zinc. Omega-3s can help fight skin inflammation - redness and loss of moisture, while vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect the skin. Seeds and nuts are a fantastic source of vitamin E. Try sprinkling walnuts or sunflower seeds over cereal or salads. In addition, eating foods rich in carotenoids can protect the skin from harmful UVB rays from the sun. Buy carrots, squash and pumpkins at your local vegetable market if possible.

Keep your skin healthy and beautiful with water

A big part of our diet is also hydration. This helps keep the skin plump and nourished. Try to drink 8 glasses of water or other water-based beverages daily. If you drink tea, you should choose green tea, this is due to its high levels of antioxidants called catechins. It also has the added benefit of boosting energy levels. Perfect for morning workouts!

Dietary supplements help provide you with the right nutrients

It is difficult to maintain all our nutrients from diet alone. Life can be hectic and stressful. We may skip meals, or eat something on the go. Dietary supplements are appropriate as a supplement to our diet. For skin health, you can use Aarja Health's Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C 500 , Omega3 Boost Krill Oil or Vegan Omega3 .

Exercise gets the blood flowing

Research has shown that regular exercise not only keeps our bodies flexible, resilient, and strong, but is also good for our skin. Exercise gets the blood pumping, which circulates oxygen and nutrients through our system. This leads to a post-workout glow!

Enough sleep is important for the skin

Sleep makes us feel rested, restored and ready to start a new day. Lack of sleep causes the body to release the stress hormone cortisol, which can result in inflammation in the skin. Signs of this include redness, itching, bruising and skin that heals slowly. One trick we at Aarja Health love is to take our Premium Magnesium3 before bed, with a small snack. With our dietary supplement, you can relax your muscles and nervous system, and then you can experience a better night's sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

SPF, SPF and more SPF

Protecting your skin from the elements starts with a good sunscreen, with an SPF of 30 or higher. Choose one that is broad-spectrum, meaning it protects against both UVB and UVA rays. Consider a hat, sunglasses, and even clothing with built-in ultraviolet protection factor (UPF). Remember to moisturize after baths and showers to lock in your skin's moisture. Use a thicker face cream at night.

Adding these changes to your skincare routine will lead to more glowing and healthy skin. Love your skin!
