Think differently about weight loss, a healthy and holistic progress
Share
It's inevitable that in January, many people focus on losing weight after the Christmas holidays. We at Aarja Health don't really want to focus on that. We believe that optimal weight comes as a natural result of a healthy lifestyle.
A quick solution?
Let's start by talking about it, there are many people who advertise quick fixes for weight loss, and that's not something we would recommend.
Losing too much weight at once can be challenging for your health. It's perfectly fine to lose up to about 1 kg per week , but no more.
Then you could risk:
- losing muscle mass
- a weaker bone structure
- losing many nutrients
- a weaker immune system
- hair loss
- digestive challenges
January is also the time when flu, illnesses and viruses are rampant, and if you consume too few calories during this time, it can have a severe impact on your immune system, making it more difficult to fight infections.
An intense diet can also disrupt the body's own metabolism, so when you stop dieting you risk putting the weight back on. The body enters a phase where it turns off calorie burning because it has to conserve its reserves, as it is not getting enough calories.
For a long-lasting result
We would rather recommend a holistic, gradual lifestyle change at your own pace, along with collagen supplementation, which can provide more lasting results.
STRENGTH TRAINING
We all know how important exercise is, and strength training is perhaps one of the most important things you do. This is because it increases calorie burning, even while you sleep. Provides better balance, and reduces the risk of falls. Reduces joint pain and symptoms of arthritis. Strengthens bone structure so that you reduce the risk of bone fractures and osteoporosis.
SLEEP
Get enough sleep. Research has shown that too little sleep can increase levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin and reduce levels of the satiety hormone leptin.
NATURAL FOOD
Eat natural foods (fruits and vegetables), and avoid highly processed foods. Don't think about everything you can't eat, but think about everything you CAN actually eat.

PROTEINS
Try to eat protein with every meal. This increases the feeling of satiety and keeps you fuller longer.
MINDFULNESS
Practice mindfulness and meditation. A stressed and unbalanced mind can often lead to overeating to numb emotions. By gaining control of your mindset, you will experience more control over what you put into your body.
That said, being overweight is also associated with several health risks. Compared to people of normal weight, people who are overweight or obese have a higher risk of several lifestyle diseases such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, in addition to a number of other chronic diseases. It's about finding balance and something that works in your own everyday life.
Can collagen help with weight loss?
Early in December we sent out a newsletter about collagen and what we found out using our frequency meter. This meter (Corpus Analyser) which can measure vitamin and mineral levels, among other things, can also measure collagen levels in the body.
Something interesting in relation to healthy weight loss is that under collagen levels, a number of factors are listed that collagen can affect, one of which is fat burning , in addition to joints, digestion, eyes, teeth, nervous system, skeleton, skin and detox, among other things.
A few studies also suggest a connection between collagen and fat burning.
A study done in 2019 showed that collagen can reduce body fat in humans, because it increased fat burning and reduced the accumulation of fat cells.
In addition, collagen is a protein that in itself can increase feelings of satiety and reduce the hunger hormone ghrelin.
We are not saying that taking collagen supplements alone can produce results, but that it may be an important piece in maintaining an optimal weight. In summary, a highly absorbable and non-synthetic collagen supplement is very important, especially after the age of 30, when collagen production in the body decreases.
