Elisabeth's path to a better lifestyle
Share
Today, our co-founder Elisabeth lives an active lifestyle to feel strong and energetic. This has not always been easy for her. Elisabeth previously struggled with health issues that required several heart surgeries, and she often felt tired and down.
Elisabeth began her training journey when she met Håkon, who later became her husband. Three years ago, they founded Aarja Health together.
"When I met Håkon, he took me out and helped me start running," Elisabeth says. "I don’t think I would have been able to start this routine without him. He showed me patience and never gave up. We started very slowly."
Training and the heart
Elisabeth admits she was afraid to train at first.
"I didn’t think training was good for me because of my heart. Eventually, I realized it was actually the opposite!"
She further explains:
"The heart is a muscle, and when we train, it gets stronger. It also becomes more resistant to arrhythmias, which I previously struggled with."
More energy and better mental health
Elisabeth says she quickly noticed a difference in her energy levels when she started running.
"I will be grateful for the rest of my life. Håkon made me understand how important physical activity is for my overall health. My mental health also improved a lot."
Training through all seasons
Elisabeth runs several times a week through all eight Sami seasons, but she especially appreciates winter training.
"We love going up to the mountains, where there is only pure, white snow and blue sky on sunny days."
Both Elisabeth and Håkon also enjoy cross-country skiing together.
How to get started with training
When Elisabeth gives advice to others who want to start an exercise routine, she says:
“Start slow and be proud of every small progress. Start with just 10 minutes! There is a lot of research showing how positive an effect just ten minutes of exercise a day can have.”
She also warns against setting too ambitious goals at the start:
“Mindset is very important. If you want to build a new habit, you have to do it gradually.”
A flexible exercise routine
A flexible schedule is important to Elisabeth. She likes to exercise in the morning after a light breakfast, or around 3 p.m. to take a break from work during the day.
Supplements as support
Of course, Elisabeth uses supplements to support her active lifestyle.
“If I’m hungry before a run but don’t want to eat a heavy meal, our Isotonic Sporty Boost is perfect. It gives me energy without feeling heavy in the stomach.”
She also uses:
- OptiMSM + C with blueberry for energy and recovery
- Magnesium3 + B6 + zinc to prevent muscle cramps
- Curcumin with ginger and B12 to support the body with inflammation after exercise
Elisabeth explains that curcumin works especially well after exercise, but also preventively with regular use.
An active lifestyle gives new energy
By starting and maintaining an exercise routine, Elisabeth has given her life new energy.
Regular physical activity, combined with a healthy diet and the right supplements, is according to her the best recipe for an active and balanced lifestyle.
